Kevin Hughes

Elder

Kevin was born in 1966 in southern Idaho — the youngest of three children, and in many ways, a child of hope. His older brother and sister had been tragically lost in a motorcycle accident three years before his arrival, and the church community patiently surrounded his grieving parents in the years that followed. He grew up on 36 acres along the Snake River, was baptized at twelve, and credits four years at a small Christian boarding school in Caldwell, Idaho with laying the foundation of his personal faith — through teachers who lived what they taught.

It was at that boarding school that Kevin first crossed paths with Heidi, whom he would later marry and has always called his best friend. Together they have two children: Felicia, born in 1991, a caregiver in Beaverton, and Geoffrey (Geoff), born in 1993, a Marine veteran, husband to Anisha his high school sweetheart, and a man whose passion was motivating others to become more than they believed they could be. His sudden passing in April 2019 gave Kevin a profound and personal understanding of the Father's longing for each of His children.

Kevin has served as a math, computer science, and stain glass art teacher, systems engineer, and engineering manager. He now serves as IT Administrator for Marion Ag Service, Inc. in St. Paul, Oregon — a role he believes was God's timely provision.

Kevin and Heidi grew up in a denomination that emphasized old covenant law over new covenant grace, and spent years searching for a church committed to the gospel and to one another's genuine growth. Heidi suggested they try a church just a block from her office. That first visit to Canby Christian in 2022 changed everything. Kevin and Heidi became members that same year, and Kevin currently serves in CCKids, the church bookstore, and as a co-Life Group leader alongside Heidi and Brandon and Roxy Taylor.
